Will Bk 10A, pg 170,mentions wife Charity, daughters Mary BAILEY, Elizabeth Collier and Sarah Collier, son Moody Collier, and grandson William Bailey. Sarah and Moody both mentioned as underage.

Notes for Charity Moody:
Charity was the daughter of Blanks Moody and ____ Maggett, and the widow of Henry Smith.

Notes for Jane Mooring and Lucy Mooring:
Janes sister Lucy married Thomass brother,
John. Both were daughters of Christopher Mooring,

Children of Jesse5 Collier and Rebekah Ivey were as follows:

i John6 This may be the John Collier who married Polly Meacham, daughter of Winifred Collier and Mark Meacham, though the evidence is sketchy on this at
this time. The possibility is mentioned in a book about Limestone Co. AL antebellum houses and the people who lived in them, "The Lure and Lore of Limestone County,
Alabama." The information was submitted to the book by a descendant of Joseph Collier & Nancy Meacham and I have not been able to verify it.

Daniel6, He married abt 1800 in TN Sarah MOORE, daughter of William Moore.
Elizabeth 6
* Benjamin6

*Note: I have seen the son Benjamin on other genealogies, but have not found any proof of this as yet. He supposedly went to GA. Would like to find verification of this.

17. John5 COLLIER,JR. (John4 Collier, Joseph3, John2, Thomas1), born abt. 1733 in Surry Co. VA; deceased abt. 1806 in Greensville Co. VA. He married abt. 1760, Mary PEEBLES, born abt. 1735 in VA.; deceased 1809 in Greensville Co. VA, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Clark) Peebles.

Notes for John Collier,Jr. Information from the book Colliers from Surry Co VA by Paul Arnot, 1989:

John's will can be found in Will Bk 2, pg 45 Greensville Co. VA. dated Dec 1805, it made bequests to son Henry; daughters Anne (Nancy) Collier and Elizabeth Moss; grandson Sterling Peebles Collier; grandchildren: David, Judith,Richard,Nancy,John and Ange, the children of William and Elizabeth Moss; grandchildren: Robert and John, sons of John Collier. Loan to wife Mary " All my real estate and residue of personal estate;on death of my wife, residue of estate to be equally divided between all children except Elizabeth Moss, to wit: Arthur Collier, John Collier, Henry Collier, William Collier, Sterling Collier and Nancy Collier." Executor Pettipool Massey, witnesses William Sykes, Benjamin Sykes and John Sykes. Proved October Court 1807.
Mary Collier died in 1809 and the estate of her husband was not settled for many years. An Estates Current was filed by Pettipool Massey in December 1823 and was recorded in Will Bk 4, pg 83.
In 1829, James, Arthur and Darius Collier of Stewart Co. TN appointed Benjamin Collier as the attorney to collect from the estate as legal heirs of Arthur Collier (Sr), dec'd, see Deed Bk 6, pg 367 , Greensville Co. VA. William Collier and Eli Stavely had also done the same, recorded pg 368.

Notes for Mary Peebles:
The will of Mary Collier, WB 2, pg 157, 28 Aug 1809, Greensville Co. VA. She bequeathed her entire estate to daughter Nancy Collier, and "if she die to be divided among all her children" (not named.) Executrix was Nancy Collier, witnesses Turner Peebles and Henry Peebles, Sr.

Have not yet determined who Nancy Collier married. She appears to have been married with children when her mother's will was written, so perhaps she married a cousin and her last name remained Collier.

Children of John5 Collier,Jr. and Mary Peebles were as follows:
i John6
Sterling6

Notes for Doctor Whitaker Collier
After his father died, his eldest brother, John Collier, Jr was his guardian until he was 21 years old. A court order on Apr 27, 1771, discharged John, Jr. "from any further account of said orphan's estate, he having produced to the court a reciept in full from the said Doctor Collier." This indicates that Doctor Collier was born in prior to Apr 27, 1750 and was over 21 years old at the time of the court order.
Court Order Bk 11, pg 401, Brunswick Co. VA.

Meacham Collier was the administrator of his estate. There followed several years of court litigation with his father's widow, Isabel Yancey, over property in Limestone Co. AL and Giles Co. TN. One such litigation involved a slave removed from the Limestone Co. farm by Isabel's son-in-laws, James and Will Collier, and taken to Giles Co.

Orphan's Court Book, Limestone Co. AL 1830-34 pg 90, Aug 1831:

Record states that the will of Joseph Collier was produced and citations were issued to Ibby Collier (Isabel), James Collier and wife Frances, Mark M. Collier ,and to Robert Austen Jr, guardian for Nancy Collier

It then goes on to say that Thomas Collier,William Massey and wife Nancy, William Massey and wife Judy, James Craig and wife Elizabeth, Henry Collier, Joseph Collier (Jr) and Nathan Craig and wife Ibby, heirs of the said Joseph Collier, deceased, are not residents of the state of Alabama.

23. *William5 COLLIER (Thomas4, Joseph3, John2, Thomas1), born 11 Oct 1762 in Brunswick Co. VA; deceased abt. 1852 in Giles Co. TN. He married abt. 1785 in Northampton Co. NC, UNKNOWN,b. abt 1770; d. bef 1850 Giles Co TN.

Notes for William Collier
Several previous genealogies maintain that William's wife was Mary MEACHAM, daughter of Henry Meacham JR and Ann UNKNOWN (her name was not Dudley). However, Mary Meacham was born 1749 (per Albemarle Parish records), and the census records in NC do not show that descrepancy in the ages of William and his wife. Three of William's siblings did marry into that Meacham family, but there is no proof that William did, also. He did name his eldest son Henry Meacham, but since William didn't follow the traditional naming pattern for his children, this doesnt prove anything. A name that recurs often in William's line for at least 3 generations, but not in the other Collier lines,is IVERSON. Further research is necessary to determine if that was possibly his wife's name.

On the 1850 census in Giles Co. TN, William is found in District 18, pg 393,listed as age 85 and born NC, in his household is Elizabeth, age 47, and Azariah Morton, age 17. Another Collier descendant, Glen Collier, has done some research on the Morton family to determine their connection to William, and he believes Elizabeth to be
Azariah's mother and William's second wife, however I have found no record of a marriage, and Elizabeth MORTON is in the household of her son Azariah on the 1860 census in Giles Co. There was a William Morton involved in one of the Collier deed records listed below.
William Collier was actually 87 and born VA, but those are probably census taker errors, or the census taker got his information second-hand. There is a deed that places his property as adjoining the property of his son "Berry" Collier (Littleberry) and on the 1850 census William's household is between Henry and Darcus Collier and Littleberry and Sarah Collier as follows:

Colliers on 1850 Giles Co. TN census: name mispelled.
29 29 Henry Colyer 63 m farmer 250 NC
Darcus 58 f "
Nancey 30 f "
Eliza Jane 26 f "
Wilson 25 m farmer NC
James 2 m "

30 30 William Colyer 85 m farmer 200 NC
Elizabeth 47 f "
Asariah Morton 17 m laborer TN

31 31 Littlebery Colyer 51 m farmer 200 NC
Sarah Colyer 30 f AL

Additional Notes for William Collier:

Revolutionary War pension, record # S21121, filed in Giles Co. TN in 1834. States in the application that he had lived in Giles Co. for nearly three years, and had lived in Caswell Co. for fourteen years prior to that, and in Northampton Co. since before the war. Lists his birthdate as 1762 and birthplace as Greensville Co. VA., but Greensville wasn't formed until 1781, so his actual birthplace was probably Brunswick Co.
William served in the Militia out of Northampton Co. NC. I also found a record of service from Northampton Co. in the War of 1812 on Ancestry.com.

Children of William5 Collier and UNKNOWN were as follows:
i Mary6
Henry Meacham6 , born abt. 1787 in Northampton Co. NC; deceased aft. 1860 in Giles Co. TN. He married on 3 Dec 1815 in Caswell Co. NC, Darcus "Darky" ELLIS.

From the 1860 Federal Census for Giles Co. TN:
83 71 Henry Collier 73 m Farmer 250
Dorcas Collier 65 f
Eliza J. Collier 36 f
James Collier 12 m
Martha Collier 9 f
(All born North Carolina)

Henry's known children were Jesse and Wilson. It is believed that Eliza was the wife of Wilson, and James and Martha were his children. I also believe that he had a son, probably his eldest, named William G. (Or Williamson G.),born abt 1816/17 NC, who married Lucy PILLOW. Census records and deed records show this William living in close proximity to Henry and the other Colliers. I have recently connected with a descendant of Julia Catherine Collier,b. 1855 Giles Co TN, daughter of William G. and Lucy A. Pillow Collier, and we are looking for proof that William G. was Henry's son.

35 William "Will"6

AL, daughter of John Collier and Polly Meacham. He didn't marry Sarah Collier until abt 1837- 1840, so he may have been married before, but I haven't found any record of another marriage.

24. Winifred5 COLLIER (Thomas4, Joseph3, John2, Thomas1), born abt. 1765 in Brunswick Co. VA ; deceased in Madison Co. AL?. She married Mark MEACHAM, born abt. 1760 in Northampton Co. NC; deceased 1814 in Madison Co. AL, son of Henry Meacham, Jr. and Anne _____.
